Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva is a magical place that sits in a basin surrounded by mountains. It will leave you in awe simply walking down the cobble stone streets.

The first thing you will see when flying into the airport  is the famous Geneva Water Fountain. The fountain shoots water over 469 feet in the air.

Old Town Geneva is filled with high-end shops, but if you take a ten min walk, you enter a more local and cost-effective area. Any area you wonder to will have cafes and restaurants  with outdoor seating to people watch with a cup of coffee or rich hot chocolate.

Chocolate, cheese, and banks are the first things that come to mind when I think of Switzerland. Food is always the best way to explore a new area. Geneva  has a chocolate tour called the Choco Pass, where you can stop at  multiple  local chocolate shops. Included in the pass is a sample bag from each shop and a discount on anything else you would like to buy. Some shops will even give you the history of their chocolate making. The pass is good for twenty-four hours and you can buy it online. It is a great  way to explore Geneva to find the next chocolate shop on the Choco Pass list.

CERN is another great place to visit when in Geneva. CERN is home to the world’s most powerful  partical accelerator. There are many rooms of hand on activities to learn about what scientists are trying to discover about the universe. It’s a great rainy day activity. When you arrive, make sure you sign up for the tour, which only runs a few times a day.

There is so much more to discover  a short distance from Geneva. From is breath taking hikes, and skiing the slips, any time spent here is well worth in.
